Just a bit of a side note. I saw "The Black Cauldron" again a couple nights ago after a long time and it reminded me of some of the elements of Celtic mythology, although, the book more wholly encompasses the more traditional elements as well as the humor that is prevalent in Celtic mythology.

ReplyDeleteWell-spotted! _The Chronicles of Prydain_, by Lloyd Alexander, the second book of which is _The Black Cauldron_ (upon which the film is based), is chock-a-block full of Celtic myth, in this case mostly with Welsh mythology and legend. I'm glad you brought this up--this might be a decent movie for people to see when we start this unit. Remind me about this next Monday when we meet, okay?
